Boston, MA Content Strategist

This position assists in the development and implementation of content on websites. This role may be involved with integrating work of writers and designers to produce a final layout compatible with corporate standards.

Essential Functions

  • Lead business discovery sessions that get to the heart of our clients, their businesses, their brands, and their target audiences
  • Negotiate and pragmatically balance client desires with users’ needs and best practices to create effective, brand-appropriate communication
  • Translate clients’ communication goals into accessible “big ideas” and concepts around which to rally the client and project team
  • Contribute to the continuous growth and refinement of the discipline and its offerings, both inside and outside of Connective DX
  • Perform some or all of the hands-on tasks as defined by project scope:
    • Conduct user research including surveys, end-user interviews, user persona development, and both formal and informal usability studies
    • Develop, maintain, and enforce message architectures and editorial style guidelines
    • Assess, catalog and organize online and offline content with an eye toward a final online solution
    • Analyze content for quantitative and qualitative gaps
    • Create taxonomies, nomenclature systems, site maps, and wireframes that organize and visualize content, its structure, and its hierarchy
    • Design content object models appropriate to the content, marketing strategy, and CMS
    • Switch between leading the content charge on large, complex projects, and manhandling details on multiple smaller projects
    • Collaborate with project managers, visual designers, user experience architects, content specialists, analytics specialists, and copywriters to create online experiences that deliver meaningful, compelling messages to the right people at the right times
    • Package and present content solutions to internal and external clients in a concise and compelling way
    • Turn analytics data into information, and use it to drive ongoing content optimization

Education and Experience

  • Degree from an accredited College or University in liberal arts or related field, or any combination of education and experience to meet the essential functions of the position
  • At least 4-5 years of experience with brand strategy, user research, content creation, and content management (all or part of which you performed in an agency environment)
  • Knowledge of HTML, DHTML and JavaScript programming language helpful

Skills Knowledge & Abilities

  • Able to work as part of a cross-functional team in a fast-paced agency environment
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and editorial skills (both spoken and written)
  • Familiarity with a range of editorial style guidelines
  • Working knowledge of online marketing strategies, user research, information architecture, user experience design, and CMS-driven projects helpful
